From 1925 to 1933, those upper floors were known as the Palace Hotel and affectionately nicknamed “the Palace of Sweets” as they actually operated as a brothel and hotel. Today, the hotel continues to manage the upper floors of the original Captain Tibbals Building, and features 19 guest rooms and suites that maintain the splendor of the past with large windows, 14-foot ceilings, and furnished with antiques.
